Members of the Playmakers of Grove have set two events for the month of February.

The first, a Readers' Theatre, "Sketches of People Talking" focuses on a selection of short comedies which focus on people at the theatre - be it people talking in or about theatres, or performers talking backstage between scenes.

The event takes place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, Feb. 6, at the theatre, 121 West Third, Grove, and features an assortment of desserts, as well as several actors including Linda Dubois, Vicki King, Pam Leptich, Karon Wheat, the Rev. Dr. David Bridges, Stan Starts and Joseph Wilhelm III.

The second, set for 3 p.m., Tuesday, Feb. 13, is a Shrove Tuesday or Fat Tuesday celebration.

Shrove Tuesday, or Fat Tuesday, is the day before Ash Wednesday, or the start of Lent. It is designed to allow people to eat all of the foods, or "fats" they are planning to give up for the 40-day Lenten season.

The event will include an assortment of purchased treats for sampling. Members of the Playmakers will present a short play about food in a Reader's Theatre format.

It will also feature the artistic treatment of women as cooks and the aesthetics of food in historical fine art paintings, which are slated to be on display.

A member of the Grove Public Library staff will discuss the light-hearted mysteries by Diane Mott Davidson, who focuses her work around Goldie, a caterer/sleuth.

The theatre is located at 121 West Third, Grove. For more information, persons interested may call 918-786-8950 and leave a message. A member of the Playmakers will callback to confirm reservations. Tickets are $15 for adults, and $8 for youth (elementary through college age).
