Rex Gardner, founder and director of Vintage Car Rally Association (VCRA), recently welcomed Cary Mollinedo, Vice president of ASD Hope, located in The Woodlands, Texas, to the VCRA home office in Grove, to present her with a donation check in the amount of $29,009.
This will fully fund a complete new classroom with all equipment, sensory items and electronics necessary to expand the school to accept new students with autism.
This was but one of the seven schools selected by VCRA to receive a donation this year.
Other recipients for the annual VCRA “Race4Autism” donations are: The Vista School, Hershey PA - $45,000, The Bridgeway Academy, Columbus, Ohio - $20,100, Giant Steps of St Louis, St. Louis, Missouri - $15,300, Paths To Independence, Bartlesville, - $10,850, The Lionheart School, Alpharetta, Geogia - $9,000, and F.A.C.T, Virginia Beach, Virginia - $3,000.
All schools selected provide optimum educational opportunities to children affected by autism.
One in 66 children born today are affected by some form of autism.
“It is our mission to help those children affected by autism, and their families, live a better and more productive life," explained Gardner.
Since its beginning in 2006, VCRA has donated over $700,000 to selected autism schools across the country.
VCRA is a 501 C3 organization that donates all proceeds of their vintage car rallies and other fund raising functions to selected Autism Schools, Chapters and/or Programs across the country. All VCRA principals and twenty plus staff members are volunteer, assuring the maximum amount of funds go directly to the charity.
