Members of the Spring City Quartet, a Joplin, Missouri-based ensemble, will take part in the monthly gospel sing, Saturday, Jan. 13, at First Assembly of God in Grove.
The sing, which began in 2016, previously took place on the fourth Saturday of each month.
Beginning this month, organizers plan to move the event to the second Saturday of each month, in order to work around holidays and other events which fall toward the end of the month.
The sing is designed for people "who love gospel singing/word." Pastor Tony Wisdom said initially, volunteers wanted to introduce the monthly singing, in order to provide members of the community to come together for a monthly outlet for music.
"We wanted a monthly outlet for our older residents who enjoy music, as well as a place [for musicians] to come sing, and share their talents and gifts," Wisdom said, adding that the sing takes place in a casual atmosphere, where people can just "enjoy the music" while having light refreshments.
Childcare is available for students birth through age 8. Older students are encouraged to take part in the music sessions.
"Anybody is welcome," Wisdom said. "If you love music and like hearing good music."
