Pinterest Club at the library

The Pinterest Club at the Grove Public Library will take place at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, Dec. 28, at the library.

New Year’s Eve Celebration

Members of the Playmakers will host a New Year’s Eve Celebration, which includes a dance and show, from 8:30 p.m. until after midnight, Sunday, Dec. 31, at the former Moose Lodge, 61951 East 315 Road, Grove.

The event will include a champaign toast, hats, horns, and an hors d’oeuvres buffet. Reservations are $75 per person if ordered by Dec. 30. Tickets at the door will be $85. Tickets for a VIP table for friends or businesses - a minimum of six, up to 12) are $75 per person. Attendees must be 21 years and over.

New Year's Eve at First Baptist

The New Year's Eve service will take place at 10:30 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 31, at the church 501 East 13th Street, Grove.

Sunday School will take place at 9 a.m. There will not be an evening service.

A New Year's Eve Skate party will take place from 7 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 31, to 1 a.m., Monday, Jan. 1, at Rocket Skate Plus in Grove.

Cost is $5 for the first two hours of skating, and $1.50 for each consecutive hour. Everyone must pay to skate for the amount of time they are at the rink. Parents watching do not have to pay.

The event will include games, prize drawings and free hats, leis and horns. Participants are encouraged to bring their own board games.

Movie Night at Foundation

All Saints, a story that highlights what happens when a pastor, Michael Spurlock, and a group of refugees from Burma, turn a piece of prime real estate into a working farm, during the Fifth Sunday Movie Night set for 6 p.m., Sunday, Dec. 31, at Foundation Free Will Baptist Church, at the church. The movie is based on a true story.

The event is free and includes popcorn and other refreshments. The evening will begin with a chili supper.

Freezin' for a reason

The 2018 Great Grand Lake Polar Bear Plunge will take place from 1 to 2:30 p.m., Saturday, Jan. 6, at Wolf Creek Park in Grove.

The event is designed to raise funds for a project which strives to provide coats to children in need within the Grove Public School System.

In the past five years, more than 400 coats have been given out.

Cost is $25, which includes a plunge t-shirt. Registration (and food) will take place at 1 p.m., with the plunge at 2 p.m.

Caring Kitchen/Feed My Sheep

Volunteers with The Caring Kitchen and Feed My Sheep have combined efforts to provide their services on the same day.

The Caring Kitchen, now located at 11th and Washbourne, in Jay, will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, while Feed My Sheep will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, across the roadway in its facility.

Caring Kitchen 2.0 will provide a nutritious meal once a week in its new location in Jay. Feed My Sheep will provide a food pantry for those in need on the same day.

The combined operation is designed to allow the two organizations to join forces in order to serve members of the community.

Emergency Food Assistance Program

Officials with the City of Jay will test tornado sirens at noon on the first Wednesday of every month.

Jay Fire Department

Officials with the City of Jay offers Jay Fire Department memberships for anyone living outside Jay city limits and needing one for home insurance purposes.

Red Willow Counseling Services and Calvary Baptist Church are sponsoring an “Addictions Support Group” at 7:30 p.m., on Thursday. The group meets at Calvary Baptist Church, 7727 Cedar Drive in West Siloam Springs.
