Evelyn Leah Treger Morgan died peacefully on Monday, Dec. 11, at Grandwood Assisted Living in Grove.

She was born in Independence, Kansas, and graduated from Independence High School.

After receiving a bachelor’s degree in music from the University of Kansas, Evelyn married James Eli Morgan and they lived in Ohio for 32 years, followed by 33 years in Georgia. She had lived in Oklahoma since 2011.

Evelyn devoted her life to teaching and performing music. In addition to performing as a soprano soloist throughout the Cleveland, Ohio and Gainesville, Georgia areas, she taught private and public school music everywhere she lived, instilling a love for music and a dedication to excellence in all her students.

She also served as a church choir director her entire adult life. Survivors are her son, James Morgan of Okema, and Kenai, Alaska; daughter and son-in-law Marcy and David Livesay of Grove; daughter Julie Morgan of West New York, New Jersey; granddaughter and grandson-in-law Jennifer and Nate DePaulo; and grandson Jeffrey Livesay.

A memorial service for Evelyn Morgan will take place at a future date in Gainesville, Georgia.
