Ronald Ray “Ron” Goins, 79, passed away on Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, in Palm Springs, California.
He was born Jan. 10, 1938, the son of Bristow (Britt) and Evalene Goins in Spavinaw.
Ron graduated from Jay High School in 1955 and shortly thereafter joined the United States Marines and was stationed at Camp Pendleton.
After completion of his military service, he was employed by ABM starting at the lowest level and over the years working into an executive position.
He later joined International Business Systems working as a top executive for several years managing offices in Los Angeles, San Francisco and New York City. Upon retirement Ron and wife Sheri moved to the Palm Springs, CA area to enjoy the warm, dry climate.
Although Ron’s work kept him from living in Oklahoma after his high school years, he always retained his love for Oklahoma Sooners football.
On Saturdays, he would routinely call his brother Woody in Virginia to discuss and contemplate the Sooners upcoming game.
Ron is survived by his wife Sheri Goins of the home; his son Britt Goins of Laughlin, Nevada; his sister, Reta Finch and husband Dan of Grove; his brother Woody Goins and wife Elsie of Stephens City, VA; his daughter-in-law Sandy Goins and grandsons Bradley and Grant Goins of Carson City, Nevada; nephews Ken Bowles of Tulsa, Woody and Ron Goins of Arlington, Virginia and Billy Bowles of El Cajon, California.
His parents and son Jeff Goins preceded him in death.
