Ellen (Miller) Snyder, 92, formerly of Grove died on Sunday, Nov. 26, 2017, in Colorado Springs, Colorado.
Ellen was born on June 20, 1925, in Grove to Mose Miller and Ora Gurley Miller.
She grew up on the family farm there - along with one sister and three brothers. She graduated from Grove High School in 1943, then attended Business College in Joplin, Missouri, graduating in 1944.
At that time she moved to Tulsa, Oklahoma and worked for Stanolind Oil and Gas Co. for several years.
On Oct. 24, 1945, she married her high school classmate, Andrew Eugene (Andy) Snyder and - as many other wives of those post war years - worked to help her husband through school.
When he graduated from Tulsa University, she also received a degree - a PHT Degree - "Putting Hubby Through."
She and the children moved with him to numerous assignments in oil field related work in Louisiana, New Mexico, Oklahoma and Texas through the years and always enjoyed each new location and the friends to be made there.
They moved to Midland, Texas in 1976 then to Colorado Springs, Colorado in 2010 in order to be near their son.
Ellen was active in her church, serving as a Bible school teacher, in a variety of children's functions and in office work. She also volunteered for community services such as Hospice and Meals on Wheels and supported the rest of the family in all their activities.
She is survived by her daughter, Sandra of Portland, Oregon; a son, Greg of Colorado Springs; a grand daughter, Marissa Wells Weaver of Parker, Colorado; a brother, Wayne Miller of Grove, and a number of nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Andy, one sister and two brothers.
Memorials, if any, could be directed to a charity of the donor's choice.
