Members of the Grove Area Merchants Association will host a Christmas Open House on Friday, Nov. 10 and Saturday, Nov. 11, at participating businesses in Grove.

The event is designed help shoppers not only shop local, but also get a kick-start to their holiday gift buying.

"It's an annual tradition," explained Terra Apperson, president of GAMA. "Most locations will have specials, door prizes and drawings, as well as refreshments on Friday and Saturday."

Apperson said the event also helps people see what can be purchased locally - rather than across state lines or online.

"It supports the community - and small business owners - where you live," Apperson said. "It gives shoppers a chance to visit the businesses in their town, meet the faces behind the customer service and find things in a friendly, warm atmosphere."
