A Jay school bus drier sustained injures on Thursday, Nov. 2, after his vehicle was struck by another car at the start of the bus route.
According to Marvin Stockton, Jay Public Schools transportation director, Jay Public School's bus number five, driven by Robin Bearpaw, was involved in the collision early Thursday morning, near the intersection of Highway 59 and 20 in Jay.
Stockton said there were no children on the bus at the time of the incident.
About the incident
According to Jay Police Officer Jerry Stearns, the bus, driven by Bearpaw, 51, was turning east off of Highway 59, onto Highway 20 this morning, when the westbound car driven by Mancle Carrier, 41, of Jay, went left of center on Highway 20, and was involved in a head-on collision with the bus.
Both Bearpaw and Carrier were transported to INTEGRIS Grove Hospital in Grove by members of the Jay and Grove Emergency Medical Services. Stearns said both men had "non life-threatening injuries."
Stearns said JPD officers anticipate citing Carrier for going left of center, however other factors - including wet pavement - remain under investigation at this time.
