Six girls are vying for the spot of 2017 Homecoming Queen at Colcord High School on Friday, Oct. 13, as the Colcord Hornets take on the Salina Wildcats in this year's festivities. 

The queen candidates include Gracie Barbee, Sydney Chandler, Lacie Kirby, Abigail Ann Potter, Chasity Schaibe Hass and Kaley Lynn Williams.

They will be escorted by Cade Brown, Ryan Lee Castleman, Wyatt Doty, Legend Doyle, Spencer Price Earp, Dylan Harper, Brenden Hedges, Kody Wayne Long, Jacob (Jake) Hawke Miller, Julio Maury, Dakota Renfro and Morgan Shawver.

This year's crown bearer is Ben Hopper, while the flower girl is Gracie Simmons. 

Homecoming festivities begin at 1:30 p.m., on Friday, with a pep rally at Hornet Arena. The annual parade will follow, kicking off at approximately 2 p.m.

Coronation of this year's homecoming royalty will take place at 6 p.m., with the kick off  for the game set for 7 p.m.

Queen Candidates

Gracie Barbee - senior, daughter of Ronnie and Kym Barbee. Barbee has been a Colcord cheerleader for four years, in FFA for four years and in the Indian Club for one year.

Future plans: Include having a happy life.

Favorite thing about high school: “Coming to school and seeing the friends that I have known since Pre-K.”

Sydney Chandler - senior, daughter of Skip and Sarah Chandler.

She is involved in cheerleading and is in AP English.

Future plans: Attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.

Favorite thing about high school: “Greatest group of friends, best boyfriend and greatest bunch of teachers.”

Lacie Kirby - senior, daughter of Michael and Twila Kirby.

Kirby is a member of the cheerleading squad and in AP classes.

Future plans: Attend Northeastern State University in Tahlequah.   

Favorite thing about high school: "My amazing group of friends.”

Abigail Ann Potter - senior, daughter of Wesley and Bambi Potter.

She is a member of the Colcord FFA and on the softball team.

Future plans: Go to college, become a veterinary technician and "be mommy to my baby boy Egan." 

Favorite things about high school: "I get to be surrounded everyday by friends and teachers who care about me.”

Chasity Schaibe Hass - niece of Vicki Blair. 

She is a Colcord cheerleader and involved in cosmetology.

Future plans: She plans to pursue a business degree and become a cosmetologist. "I want to be happy with my life.”

Favorite thing about high school: “My beautiful cheer coach, cheerleading and my friends and boyfriend. Being able to share my happiness with my friends.”

Kaley Lynn Williams - senior, daughter of Bobby and Crystal Williams.

She is a member of the Colcord cheerleading squad.

Future plans: She plans to attend college and pursue a career in the medical field. 

Favorite thing about high school: "The kind hearted people, caring staff and students.”

Cade Brown - senior - son of Jeff Brown and Angie Duckett.

He is a member of the Colcord football team and takes part in weightlifting. 

Future plans: Attend college and become an athletic trainer. 

Favorite thing about high school: Sports and friends.

Ryan Lee Castleman - senior, son of Chris and Crystal Castleman and Sabrina and Steven Diddle.

He is a member of the Colcord football team, and is involved in Fellowship of Christian Athletes, basketball and track.

Future plans: Continue his football career at Northeastern Oklahoma State University in Tahlequah, where he has committed to play football.

Favorite thing about high school: Lunch "and the BOIS."

Wyatt Doty - senior, son of Bob and Melissa Doty and Mike and Cherry Gill. He is the grandson of Andy and Colleen Anderson and Jerry Londigan.

Doty is a member of the Colcord football team and the Colcord FFA chapter. 

Future plans: Is to "work his life away."

Favorite thing about high school: "My friends, my girlfriend Gracie Barbee and Mrs. Celina Johnson.”

Legend Doyle  - senior, son of Ricky and Mary Doyle.

Doyle is a member of the Colcord football team, in the Business Professionals Association and on the academic team.

Future plans: Pursue a career in sports journalism. 

Favorite thing about high school: "The ability to learn and plan for my future while being able to hang out with your friends.

"We get the to experience learning new things and figuring out what we all want to do when you graduate together. And I just think that is really cool.”

Spencer Price Earp - senior, son of Celina Johnson and Jarrod Earp.

Earp is a member of the Colcord football team, as well as the basketball and baseball teams. He also takes part in track and weightlifting. He is a member of Fellowship of Christian Athletes, FCCLA, Indian Club and AP English.

Future plans: Go to college and become a psychiatrist.

Favorite thing about high school: "People that has stood by me though it all.”

Dylan Harper - senior - son of Shannon and Carrie Harper.

He is a member of the Colcord football team.

Future plans: Attend college. 

Favorite thing about high school: "Being around all my friends.”

Brenden Hedges - senior, son of Allison and Clinton Jordan and the late Jason Hedges.

He is a member of the Colcord football and track teams, as well as the Fellowship of Christian Athletes and Indian Club.

Future plans: Going into the U.S. Army for five years, then becoming a military police officer.

Kody Wayne Long - senior, son of Johnny and Mindy Long.

He is in athletics, including the Colcord football team, and a member of the Colcord FFA Chapter.  

Future plans: Pursue a career as a mechanic. 

Favorite thing about high school: The ability to play football. "Most people don’t have this kind of opportunity.”

Jacob (Jake) Hawke Miller - senior, son of Jason and Michelle Walker and Jason Miller. He is the grandson of Mike Dewey, Debra Upoff and Opal Payne.

He is a member of the Colcord football team, as well as the academic team, band and FCCLA.

Future plans: Become a mechanic. 

Favorite thing about high school: "Coming to school and seeing all the people I grew up with and has succeeded with me.”

Julio Maury - senior, son of Dallina and Junior Beasley and Julio and Nancy Maury.

He is a member of the Colcord football team. He also throws shot put and discus in track.

Future plans: Pursue a career as an architect.

Favorite thing about high school: The people.

Dakota Renfro - senior, son of Mark and April Renfro.

Dakota plays for the Colcord football team and is a member of the Fellowship of Christian Athletes.

Future plans: Go into the military. 

Favorite thing about high school: "My group of friends, the best teammates and the great teachers.”

Morgan Shawver - senior, son of Kevin and Melissa Shawver.

A member of the Colcord football team, he is also involved in FFA, Fellowship of Christian Athletes and the Indian club.

Future plans: Pursue a career as an electrician.

Gracie Simmons - daughter of Nicky and Somer Simmons, and the granddaughter of Beryl and Vickey Simmons and John and Rhonda Lewis.

Ben Hopper - son of Josh and Amber Hopper, and the grandson of Mike and Becky Johnson and Ken and Marie Hopper.
