“I believe I’ll go fishing”
Grand Lake fishing is great. Levels are stable, color is good, and water temperatures are dropping into the mid 70’s. A continued temperature decline will only improve the catch.
We had spectacular guide trips this past week for both white and black bass.
The white bass seem to be schooling on the flats around Shangri La and the mid lake islands. A chartreuse spoon or “gay blades” seem to work best but they are hard to find. Sports Center has some but they may not last long.
I have a saying about the black bass bite; shallow and short. Lots of good healthy fish but not any size, but it’s only a matter of time before the larger fish move shallow. Right now your best bet for big fish is still deep.
Catfish are shallow drifting around the islands in the Elk River and in Horse Creek. Cut bait.. those white bass heads and ribs, are producing.
Remember the Grand Lake Bobber Drop?
Lane Stewart from Grove won the Infinity guide trip. We went out the other day with his dad Corey, and had a blast. Lane caught the biggest bass of his life, but I think eventually he’ll get one even bigger. For a young man 12-years-old he’s a pretty good “stick”.
Until next time…keep your hook in the water.
