Students from Grove FFA hosted the Petting Grove Lower Elementary Petting Zoo for first to third students on Friday, Sept. 15, at the Grove Middle School Practice Field.
The event allowed students learn about a variety of animals typically found on the farm including rabbits, a bottle calf, a horse, a donkey, kittens, puppies, chickens, turkeys and a peacock.
“It is surprising how many children don’t have a full understanding of where our food comes from," Garrett Bergman, Grove FFA Advisor said. "By visiting a farm they can see firsthand where and how they get their favorite foods.”
For members, it was a chance to interact with younger students.
“This has been one of my favorite activities in the Grove FFA.
Katyn Medlin said. "[The students] were so excited to see all the farm animals."
