Homecoming 101: If You Go

Recognizing Candidates

The day begins at 7:30 a.m. with a GHS Homecoming Candidate VIP reception in the library at Grove High School. After the reception the candidates will rehearse for the coronation at the high school practice field.

The Parade

The parade kicks off the public events at 1 p.m. The parade route begins at the Grove Community Building, 104 West Third, travels down Third to Main, then turns on 10th Street, goes past the Middle School and Lower Elementary campuses, before it turns at Leisure Road and goes past the Early Childhood Center. It then turns on Seventh Street, to end behind Ridgerunner Stadium.

Additional activities for students, including a pep assembly for middle and high school students, will take place following the parade at Ridgerunner Stadium.

The ceremony

The evening events will begin at 6 p.m., when the candidates gather at Ridgerunner Stadium. A photo backdrop will be in place, behind the home stands, near the snack bar. A time for photos will also be available after the coronation.

Homecoming candidates are asked to meet on the north side (visitor's side) of the field by 6:15 p.m.

The homecoming ceremony will begin shortly thereafter, at approximately 6:35 p.m., with kickoff for the Grove vs. Vinita football game set for 7 p.m.

Family and friends of homecoming candidates are encouraged to be in the stands no later than 6:15 p.m., in order to not miss the coronation ceremony.

A Reminder

Alumni members of the cheerleaders will cheer alongside this year's team. Alumni members of the band are expected to perform alongside the Pride of Grove Ridgerunner band.

New This Year

Volunteers from Alive Church Vinita will host a tailgate party for members of the Grove and Vinita High Schools band, cheerleaders and trainers, as well as the football players, on Friday, Sept. 29, as part of the Homecoming events.

The meals - for the students - are designed to provide encouragement for members of both teams. The bands and cheerleaders will be fed during half time, while the football teams and trainers are fed after the game.
