Darrianne (Dolly) Zarintash is the featured artist for the month of September at the Brush and Palette Gallery in Grove.

Zarintash has been drawing since childhood. After her children left for college, she began taking drawing and painting classes at Tulsa Community College, beginning with figure drawing then watercolor.

She took oil painting lessons from Barbara Courtney and Theresa Rankin in Oklahoma, and a four day class in Jackson Hole, Wyoming with Michael Albrechtsen. Teaching videos from Richard Schmidt and Scott Christian have also helped her as she made the transition to oil painting.

Her paintings have won awards twice in oil paintings at the 4-State Art Competition at John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas.

She calls her style "traditional representational art" and says it continues to become visible as she keeps painting.

Zarintash's work is on display at the gallery, 18 West Fourth Street, Grove. The gallery is open Wednesday through Saturday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. She and others teach classes at the gallery on the first Saturday of each month.
