The Delaware County Commissioners approved a contract with a Oklahoma City based correctional facility health care provider to offer medical services to the Delaware County Sheriff’s Office.

In a special county commissioners meeting on Monday, Sept. 18, with Flint Junod, Turn Key Health, chief executive officer and Delaware County Sheriff Harlan Moore, the commissioners learned the health organization serves 27 Oklahoma county jails.

“We operate medical programs for jail,” Junod said.

The contract is to begin Oct. 1 and the monthly fee is $4,225.

Some of the programs offered are physician and nursing coverage, emergency services and mental health, he said.

Moore was quick to point out to the commissioners no narcotic drugs would be housed at the jail.

Other business

In other business, the commissioners approved several financial items including, approval of a $477,450 bid for a rural water district No. 11 near the community of Kansas and two bids - $30,680 and $26,598 – for 13 sets of turn-out gear were forwarded to the Kansas Fire Department.

Other items approved was to transfer $121,889.99 from a Cherokee Nation account to the county bridge and roadway account in District No. 2, $10,000 from a part-time account to a maintenance and operations account to purchase computers for District No. 3 and $4,000 from the Flint Ridge fire department maintenance and operations account to its capital outlay account.

Two previous bids were approved to extend the bid opening to Oct. 2 with a closing date of Sept. 29 for a new fire boat on behalf of the Cleora Fire Department and a used 20-ton tilt deck trailer and a used 1985 dump truck.

Other bids approved was a $75 bid for title searches for property going through the county treasurer’s tax resale and a $1,017.61 Grand Gateway Reap Grant earmarked for the Delaware County Emergency Management.

County Clerk Barbara Barnes said the grant was “clearing up an account.”

Other invoices approved was an $3,807 invoice submitted by the Craig County Sheriff’s Office for housing nine inmates for 115 days, a $2,150 invoice by the Craig County Regional Detention Center, a $211.10 invoice by the Sac and Fox Nation Juvenile Detention Center, a $4,231.50 invoice by the Tulsa County Juvenile Bureau and a $1,858.76 invoice by the state of Oklahoma office of Juvenile Affairs

Other items approved:

• Delaware County Sheriff’s office surplus of radios.

• to borrow permits with Michael Powers and Robert Lawson for clay material.

• to forward to the ACCO insurance company a tort claim filed by Steve Gibe for damage to a windshield.

• a memorandum of understanding between the city of Grove and the Bernice Fire Department for dispatch services.

• to file with the OSU Extension 2017 county sales, use and lodging and tax summary report.

The next meeting is 9 a.m. Monday, Sept. 25 at the Delaware County Courthouse in the Commissioners’ Public Meeting room.
