Jay showed a little spark on Monday, Sept. 11 when they took on Locust Grove producing some of the best offense of the season.

But in the end, the Lady Pirates left the Lady Bulldogs still looking for their first win in a 14-4 loss.

After only scoring six runs all season Jay had four in the game with Locust Grove.

Three of the runs came in the bottom of the second inning when junior Regan Dry reached base after being hit by a pitch and giving way to pinch runner Khailia Charqueno. Kaytlynn King followed after being hit by a pitch and Maggie Lokey loaded the bases when she was walked.

Charqueno scored after stealing home and was followed by Shelby Davidson when she came home on a bases loaded walk from Jessie Summerfield. The third run of the inning came after Sydney Taylor was hit by pitch to come home and cut the Locust Grove lead to 6-3.

The final Jay run came in the bottom of the sixth inning with Locust Grove up 12-3. Breezy Stoddard smacked a hard ground ball to left field to bring Charqueno home.

The Lady Bulldogs finished with five hits from five different players. Taylor, Charqueno, Stoddard, Davidson and King all had hits. Summerfield, Taylor and Stoddard had RBI’s.

Dry was the losing pitcher with 11 hits, two walks and seven strikeouts.
