Bag sale at Christian Mission

Volunteers at the Christian Mission Thrift Shop will host a bag sale now until Saturday, Sept. 9.

For this sale, a full Wal-Mart sized bag of items will be $3 on Friday and $2 on Saturday.

Jay 9/11 prayer service

Volunteers with Cry Out America will host a prayer service in commemoration of the 15th Anniversary of 9/11 from 3 to 4 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 10, on the lawn of the Delaware County Courthouse.

This is the 16th anniversary of 9/11 and Patriot Day. The prayer service is non-denominational and will include ministers from churches across the county.

Cornerstone Open House

Members of Cornerstone Church will host an open house on Sunday, Sept. 10, at the church, located at Fifth and Main, Grove.

During the day, at 10:15 a.m., Pastors Jon and Sheri Burnaman will speak on “Reaching Up and Reaching Out." Classes will be available for children.

Following worship, there will be a time when guests can meet church leaders, learn about the congregation's ministries and tour the facility. It will also include lunch with either ham and beans or chili, and dessert.

Beth Moore Simulcast

Volunteers at First United Methodist Church, Grove, will host a Beth Moore Simulcast, Captivated, the Wonder of Christ on the Winding Road, from 9:15 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at the church.

Doors will open at 8:30 a.m. Tickets are $20, which includes lunch, snack, childcare and door prizes. Free childcare is available, with pre-registration for students 6 months to 10 years.

Blackwood Brothers in Concert

The Blackwood Brothers Quartet, an award-winning gospel music group, will perform at 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 16, at Trinity Baptist Church, Grove.

This is the seventh appearance by the Blackwoods in Grove.

Right Choices Corn Maze

The staff of the Right Choices Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch will hold its half price opening weekends on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17, and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23 and 24, at the maze near Southwest City, Mo.

Mexico mission focus of service

Members of the community are invited to learn about the Roca Blanca Mission Base on Sunday, Sept. 17, at Cornerstone Church in Grove.

The Rev. Bruce Edwards will speak during the 10:15 a.m. service, sharing stories of God's work within the remote area of Oaxaca, Mexico.

NEOK Veterans Reunion

The Rev. Dave Roever, a Vietnam veteran, is the guest speaker for the Northeast Oklahoma Veterans Reunion, set for Saturday, Sept. 23, at Crossroads Church, Grove.

The event will begin with a free barbecue dinner at 4:30 p.m., and the meeting at 6 p.m. Crossroads Church is located at 56900 East Highway 59, Grove, near the Highway 125 interchange on Highway 59.

In addition to Roever, special guests include Lt. Col. and Chaplain Brad Hanna with the Oklahoma Army National Guard and Rep. Josh West (R-Grove) a veteran of Iraq and Afghanistan.

Walk for Life

The annual Abundant Blessing Center Walk for Life will take place at 3 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 24, starting at the Grove Sports Complex.

A timed 5K, it is open to both runners and walkers. It also includes a one-mile fun run/walk.

Cost is $25 per person for the timed 5K, $20 for a one-mile fun run. Persons interested may register by Sept. 10, in order to receive a t-shirt on the day of the race. After Sept. 10, registration for the 5K increases to $30.

Building 429 in concert

Building 429, with Josh Wilson and Chris August will be in concert on Thursday, Oct. 5, at Grove's First Baptist Church in Grove.

Bluegrass Jam at St. Andrew's

Musicians of all ages are invited to take part in the weekly Bluegrass Jam from 6 to 9 p.m., every Monday, at St. Andrew's Episcopal Church, Grove.

Taste Of Grace, a free soup outreach ministry, organized by members of Grace Presbyterian Church, Grove, will take place from 4:30 to 6 p.m., every Wednesday, at the church.

The event is designed to provide soup to anyone, no questions asked. No preaching, just "made from scratch soup."

Caring Kitchen/Feed My Sheep

Volunteers with The Caring Kitchen and Feed My Sheep have combined efforts to provide their services on the same day.

The Caring Kitchen, now located at 11th and Washbourne, in Jay, will be open from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Mondays, while Feed My Sheep will be open from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m, across the roadway in its facility.

Caring Kitchen 2.0 will provide a nutritious meal once a week in its new location in Jay. Feed My Sheep will provide a food pantry for those in need on the same day.

The combined operation is designed to allow the two organizations to join forces in order to serve members of the community. 

Treasure Quest at Cornerstone

Students Kindergarten to Sixth Grade are invited to participate in Treasure Chest, every Sunday at 10:15 a.m. at Cornerstone Church, Grove.

The event includes a variety of activities for students to take part in, while their parents are in morning worship.
