Kansas’s grabbed conference wins over Dewey (13-2) and Chouteau (12-0) while dropping a game on the road to fourth ranked Vian 12-2.

Kansas hammered out dozen hits and runs batted in to beat the Lady Bulldoggers. Junior Kaylee Armbrister finished 3-4 in the game with four RBI’s and two runs scored. Maggie Barnard, Bert Brewer and Ashton Bird all had two hits each while Ashlyn Bird, Kelsey Guthrie and Lainie Payton had one hit each.

Ashlyn Bird pitched the game with nine hits, two strikeouts and no walks in the game.

The Lady Comets run ruled the Class 2A 10th ranked Lady Wildcats.

Kansas had 16 hits in the game with Guthrie leading going 4-4 with three RBI’s. Brewer had three hits with Ashlyn and Tyra Verrette getting two each.

Bird also pitched the game with three strike outs and no walks while giving up five hits. Bonnie Pruitt and Guthrie both scored three runs each for Kansas.

Kansas had five hits each in the fourth and fifth innings to pull away with the win.

Vian 12 Kansas 2

Kansas took their only lead in the top of the first inning when Ashlyn Bird scored off an Armbrister sacrifice fly and Guthrie came home on a Barnard RBI single.

Vian pulled away with five hits in the bottom of the first and four in the fourth.

Kansas had four hits in the game from Guthrie, Barnard, Verrette and Ashlyn Bird.

Ashlyn Bird started the game and pitched three innings with seven hits and two walks.

Guthrie came in relief throwing 10 pitches with two hits and no strike outs or walks.

Kansas will play in the Wyandotte Tournament beginning Thursday, Sept. 7 and continuing through Saturday, Sept. 9. On Thursday they will play Quapaw at 7 p.m. in the tournament and Class 2A, 20th ranked Wyandotte at 8:30. Friday, Sept. 8 they will take on Ketchum at 10 a.m. and then Class 3A, ninth ranked Oktaha on Saturday, Sept. 9 at 2:30 p.m.

The Lady Comets will then be off until the Adair Tournament on Sept. 14.

Kansas remains ranked in the top ten of Class 3A at 10th with a 14-6 record. Their losses have all came to teams ranked respectively in their class.
