Kansas Lady Comets wrapped up a busy week competing in the Lincoln Christian Tournament on Thursday to Saturday, Aug. 24 to 26 as well as regular scheduled games.
In a regular season game with Chelsea, Kansas out hit the Lady Dragons 17-9. Ashlyn Bird led the team going 4-5 at the plate.
She also had two RBI’s. Kelsey Guthrie finished 3-4, Bert Brewer 3-3 while Kaylee Armbrister and Maggie Barnard had two hits each. Addison Gregory had three RBI’s with Ashton Bird and Tyra Verrette had two runs batted in.
Kansas beat Ketchum 13-3 with the Comets pounding out 11 hits. The game was tied 3-3 in the third inning in the second when Kansas scored four runs powered off a double from Kaylee Armbrister.
The Lady Comets added five runs to start to pull away in the with five runs in the third. Verrette and Armbrister had a double and a single to power the team. Armbrister was 2-3 on the day to lead Kansas.
Kansas faced Class 2A, sixth ranked Haskell in the Lincoln Christian Tournament and came away with the 11-5 loss. Kansas six hits and four errors in the game. Armbrister had a home run and two RBI’s to lead Kansas.
The Lady Comets got back on the winning track downing Catoosa 12-0. Kansas had 10 hits in the game. Guthrie led the team going 3-3 while Armbrister and Lainie Payton had two each.
