When the dust settled on Tuesday, Aug. 29, during the 2017 Delaware County Free Fair poultry show, the Rutherford siblings were left, with the final three birds on the table for the honor of grand champions.

Grand Champion went to Kayden Rutherford with his champion Large Fowl White Ameraucana cockerel and reserve grand champion to his sister Maddie with her champion Bantam Black Silkie hen. The third bird over all and grand champion waterfowl was Kayden Rutherford’s Champion Waterfowl Black Cayuga duck.

Reserve Champion Large Fowl went to Clynt Phillips with his Speckled Sussex hen while the Reserve Champion Bantam was Kayden Rutherford with his Brown Red Modern cock bird. Paizlee Beck showed reserve champion Waterfowl with her Rouen hen duck. Hannah Dozier had the grand and reserve grand champion turkey with her pair of Bronze.

Champion Pee Wee Showman was Riley Cleveland, champion junior showman Alex Crittenden, champion intermediate showman Skylar Brantley and in her one and only time of competing in poultry showmanship Mattie Haynes was the champion senior showman.

Judge for the poultry show was Dwight Madsen from Carthage, Missouri. Madsen is a licensed judge with American Poultry Association and the American Bantam Association.
