Kansas dropped two games to number one ranked Verdigris while beating Locust Grove and Cushing. Jay dropped two games to rivals Grove and Vinita.

Kansas Lady Comets

Kansas sports an 8-3 record on the season with two of those losses this week to #1 Verdigris. Their only other loss was on the road to 13th ranked Spiro last week.

In the games with Verdigris Kansas fell 9-4 and 11-3. They also beat Sperry at home in a conference game Tuesday, August 15.

The first loss came in the Rogers State Festival played in Claremore Thursday and Friday, Aug. 17 and 18.

The difference in this game was the six errors that Kansas committed.

Kansas had 2-1 lead in the second when Kansas scored off a hit from junior Ashlyn Bird. Senior Tyra Verrette singled in the sixth inning to give the Lady Comets a 4-3 advantage. Verdigris scored six runs in the top of the seventh for the win.

The second meeting with Verdigris came at home Monday, August 21.

Kansas was out hit in this game 15-4 and had four errors to zero for Verdigris. The Lady Cardinals went up 7-0 before Kansas got on the scoreboard. Kansas put points on the scoreboard in the fourth inning when Maggie Barnard and Lainie Payton hit doubles to bring four runs in.

Against Locust Grove the Lady Comets out hit the Lady Pirates 9-6 and outscored them 8-3 through fourth inning. The Lady Comets committed no errors in the game. Verrette and Barnard both went 2-3 in the game.

Kansas played Cushing in the Rogers State Festival outhitting the Lady Tigers 9-2 in the game. Kelsey Guthrie and Barnard had two hits each for Kansas.

In the conference game with Sperry Kansas scored seven runs in the fifth and sixth inning. Payton and Barnard combined for seven runs batted in while Ashton Bird and Bert Brewer had two RBI’s each.

Jay Lady Bulldogs

Errors once again plagued Jay committing six in the 9-0 loss to Grove and 10 in the Lady Bulldogs 8-1 loss to Miami.

Jay lost the game with Grove Jay had six hits in the game with Grove with two each from Maggie Lokey and Jessie Summerfield.

In the game with Miami Jay scored their first run of the season in the fourth inning when Khaila Charquero scored off a Sydney Taylor single. Jade Frazier and Breezy Stoddard had two hits each for Jay.
