Lady Red went two wins and one loss at the Shawnee tournament losing to last year’s 4A state champions Tuttle by one run.

The Lady Red’s first game of the tournament was up against Tuttle on Friday, Aug. 19, with Katie Bunch pitching a close game.

The team opened the seventh inning tied 1-1 but gave up a score allowing Tuttle to close the game with a 2-1 victory.

Macy Barnes coming off her long home run against Jay hit 2-2 followed by Megan Tramel hitting 1-3 for a total of three hits against the Lady Tigers.

The Lady Red came out strong to their next game on Saturday, Aug. 19, against Healdton’s Lady Bulldogs with a 10-1 victory.

Tramel showed her skill on the field batting 3-3 with a total of 3 RBIs as well as Barnes batting 3-4 against Healdton’s Lady Bulldogs.

Bunch pitched a strong series allowing only six hits and two runs between the Tuttle and Healdton games.

Last game of the tournament was against Washington’s Lady Warriors which brought an extra inning with 3-2 victory in the eighth for the Lady Red.

Laken Malone came in as the starting pitcher for the Lady Red and was relieved by Mikalle Pair to close the game against Washington.

Barns batted 1-4 with an RBI against the Lady Warriors

After batting 0-2 against Tuttle, Ava Sarminski clinched the victory over the Lady Warriors with the winning run racking up two hits, two doubles and three RBIs for the tournament.

After the weekend’s Shawnee Tournament the Lady Red continue their season with a 7-1 win loss ratio.

Lady Red Head Coach Jeremy Collins said his team is performing well, compared to last season at the same time.

“It is early but we are very pleased with how we are pitching," Collins said. "All three of our pitchers are doing a great job."

Offensively, Collins said, his team has scored runs in multiple innings and "have had great production throughout the lineup."

"Going forward we have to execute a little better and continue to push the girls to never be satisfied," Collins said.

After a long weekend on the road the Lady Red will turn around and play Oologah. That game was scheduled to take place after presstime on Monday, Aug. 21.
