GAMA Farmers' Market
The Grove Area Merchants Farmers' Market is open for the 2017 season.
The market, organized by GAMA members, takes place from 8 a.m. - noon every Wednesday and Saturday at the Grove Community Center, 104 W. Third, Grove.
This is a producer-only market. Everything is handmade or home-grown. Spots for vendors remain available. Local musicians interested in taking part in the market are encouraged to do so.

Local author hosts book signing
Elaine Gardner of Grove will host a book signing for her debut book, Arms Wide Open, from 2 to 4 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, Grand Savings Bank in Grove.
A life-long resident of Grove and Delaware County, Gardner wrote her book to provide encouragement for people in lives of distress. It is the story of one of life’s struggles, the illness and subsequent loss of a child.

Grove Country Day School Open House
Open house for Grove Country Day School will take place from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday, Aug. 15, at the school, located at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Grove.

South Grand Lake Chamber
Members of the South Grand Lake Area Chamber of Commerce will meet at 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, at the GRDA EcoSystems Building in Langley. Participants are asked to RSVP by Aug. 16. Clantons will be catering the meeting’s meal.
Ryan Robbins, who works for Arthur J. Gallagher & Co., the third largest Risk Management Consulting Firm Globally, will serve as the guest speaker.
Grove Chamber Business After Hours
Members of the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will host a Business After Hours from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, Aug. 17, at St. Andrew’s Episcopal Church, 555 East Third, Grove.

Thunder on Wolf Creek
The fifth annual Thunder on Wolf Creek, known as the "greatest show on the water," will take place Friday, Aug. 18 to Sunday, Aug. 20, at Wolf Creek Park, Grove.
The event will include three days of fun including 20 heats of hydroplane and runabout boat racing.
Hosted by the Oklahoma Boat Racing Association, the event is sanctioned by the National Boat Racing Association. More than 65 boats, representing teams from 15 states, are expected to participate.
Testing starts at noon, on Friday, Aug. 18. Racing takes place, beginning at noon, on Saturday, Aug. 19, and 12:30 p.m., Sunday, Aug. 20.

Barkaritaville returns to Grove
The second Barkaritaville, to benefit the Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake, will take place from 6 to 10 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19 at the Honey Creek Landing and Marina, located next to Honey Creek Bridge. The event was previously scheduled to take place in May, but was canceled due to weather.
It will include a “cheeseburgers in paradise” dinner hosted by the staff of The Parrot Steakhouse and Grill, live music by The Exit 34 Band, and a charity auction.

Cars for Critters car show
The sixth annual "Cars for Critters" indoor car show will take place from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m., Saturday, Aug. 19, at the Grove Civic Center, 1702 South Main, Grove.
Proceeds from the show benefit the Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake. The event is free and open to the public. Along with classic cars for viewing , there will be food, music, drawings and door prizes.
Car show registration begins at the Grove Civic Center after 4 p.m., on Friday, Aug. 18 and from 7 to 11 a.m., Saturday, Aug. 19. Pre-registration car entry fee is $15; Saturday car entry fee is $20.

Guns & Hoses Blood Drive
The Sixth Annual Guns & Hoses Blood Drive, sponsored by The Grove Sun, will take place from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 26, at the Grove Community Center, 104 West Third, Grove.
The event pits the "Guns" (law enforcement) against the "Hoses" (fire fighters). Fire fighters have won the competition the last two years.
The drive is organized by the Oklahoma Blood Institute, which is the primary blood product supplier for INTEGRIS Grove Hospital. All donors will receive a t-shirt and two tickets to the Safari Joe’s H2O Water Park.

AARP Driver Safety Program
Local classes for the AARP Driver Safety Program will take place in March to December. The one-day course is six hours in length. Drivers will be able to obtain a discount from their insurance carriers for taking the course.
The classes are open to all interested drivers, including those who have taken it in the past. Upcoming class dates are Wednesdays, Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Nov. 29, and Saturday Dec. 9.

REC Day, known as Northeast Oklahoma Electric Cooperative’s annual meeting, takes place this year on Saturday, Sept. 16 at the Grove Civic Center, 1702 South Main, Grove.
Events begin at 8 a.m., with free donuts and coffee, and arts and crafts booths, on the civic center parking lot.
Inside the civic center, participants will register for the meeting, vote for representatives and visit a variety of vendors.
The event will also include both indoor and outdoor entertainment, an outdoor kidzone, complete with games, prizes, and student registration for computer drawings.
Registration is open from 8 a.m. until noon on Saturday, Sept. 16, at the Grove Civic Center. Participants do not have to be present to win most of the door prizes.
Right Choices Corn Maze
The staff of the Right Choices Corn Maze and Pumpkin Patch will hold its half price opening weekends on Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 16 and 17, and Saturday and Sunday, Sept. 23 and 24, at the maze near Southwest City, Mo.
The corn maze and pumpkin patch is open from Saturday, Sept. 16, to Sunday, Oct. 29, at 1161 Manning Road, Southwest City, Mo.

Taste of Grand
Culinary connoisseurs will travel from near and far for Grand Lake’s premier food and wine tasting event, Taste of Grand, set for 6 p.m., Saturday, Sept. 23, at 900 East 13 Street, in the parking lot of INTEGRIS Grove Hospital in Grove.
Taste of Grand, designed as a fundraiser for the INTEGRIS Foundation, is presented by major event sponsor, Bank of Grove. More than 25 food and wine vendors are scheduled to take place offering food and drinks.
The popular Wes Hart Band will add to the ambience with live music to dance to or simply enjoy.
Ticket sales will begin on Aug. 1. All proceeds benefit the INTEGRIS Foundation, a nonprofit organization that funds continuing advancements in local health care and medical treatments for those in need.
