Report by Candy Couch
The month of July was another busy month for our SLWGA. On July 11, our interclub team traveled to the Muskogee Country Club and competed against the Hillcrest Country Club’s interclub team. Our team won handily in this competition.
Our next interclub will take place on Thursday, Aug. 10, at The Club at Indian Springs in Broken Arrow.
More than 75 women from the Tri-State area came to to Shangri-La for the 80th Annual Women’s Tri-State Golf played in this tournament.
Kaye Hansen and Judi Barber have worked very hard getting this tournament organized and have done an excellent job. Our SLWGA members in the tournament include: Kaye Hansen, Judi Barber, Candy Brasel, Candy Couch, Carol Cable, Liz Paden, Peggy Blair, Peggy Howard, Ann Turner, Robin Purdie, Susan Jones and Vicki Graper.
We are proud of two of our women, who both shot 75s in the last few weeks during Monday play day competitions: Ann Turner and Robin Purdie.
Sign-ups are underway for the women's Scramble on Saturday, Aug. 5. Persons interested may sign up on-line or call The Pro Shop. Linda McCulla and Candy Brasel are the event hosts. There is a $10 cash entry fee and it will include a shotgun start at 12:15 p.m. Participants are asked to arrive early, in order for teams to be made at the Pro Shop.

Golf Tip of the Week
When putting, concentrate on a spot three to four inches in front of your ball that will roll over the line that you want to go on. That SPOT is more important than anything else in your putt.

Golf joke of the week
Negotiations between union members and their employer were at an impasse. The union denied that their workers were flagrantly abusing the sick-leave provisions set out by their contract.
One morning at the bargaining table, the company’s chief negotiator held aloft the morning edition of the newspaper. “This man,” he announced, “called in sick yesterday!”
There on the sports page, was a photo of the supposedly ill employee, who had just won a local golf tournament with an excellent score. A union negotiator broke the silence in the room. “Wow!” he said. “Just think of the score he could have had if he wasn’t sick!”
