If trees could speak, what stories this one could tell.
Workers removed a 100-year-old oak tree from in front of The Breezy Porch Retail & Retreat in Grove on Saturday, July 22.
Pat Little, who owns the building, said it was originally the hotel her great-grandparents built in 1909, the Corey Hotel. She said her great-grandfather planted the tree after he returned from the Civil War.
Little said the tree was removed because it had split and posed a danger to the building, but she is hoping to have a carving made out of the wood to keep its legacy alive.
