Welfarewell at the Playmakers
“Welfarewell,” an award-winning play by Cat Delany, opens Saturday, July 8 at The Playmakers’ theatre, 121 West Third, Grove.
The production, a comedy, is a lampooning of those living on not so livable fixed incomes - from out of work actors to hookers, a shoplifter and murderous wife.
Performances are at 7:30 p.m., Saturdays, July 15 and 22, and Friday, July 14 and 21; and at 2 p.m., Sunday, July 16.

Story time on Monkey Island
The story time at the J. Weber Lending Library on Monkey Island will take place from 3 to 4 p.m., Saturday, July 15, at the Port of Entry shopping center, just south of the intersection of Highway 125 and 85A, going towards Monkey Island.
The event will include a story time, featuring The Library Lion by Michelle Knudson read by Joyce Weber, retired teacher and librarian, along with a lion related craft and bookmark. For more information, persons interested may call 918-694-4518.
GLOC Shootout Veterans Charity Troop Tour
The 2017 GLOC Veterans Charity Troop Tour will begin with a driver's meeting at 10:15 a.m., Friday, July 14, at Lakeside Marina, next to Sail Boat Bridge.
The tour will leave at 11 a.m., and all boats must be registered. The tour is an event where all participants will run as a group to tour Grand Lake, leaving from Lakeside Marina to Pensacola Dam and back. Registration fee is $195 per boat for non race participants or $100 per boat for race participants.
Proceeds will benefit the Combat Vets Association, Oklahoma Chapter 10-5. This chapter is a locally based nonprofit that works with all veterans in need within a 75 mile radius of Grove.
Tour stops include The Parrot, Grove, Eddy's Lakeside Bar, Monkey Island, Quarterdeck Waterfront Cafe, Monkey Island, Morrow's Bar and Grill, Eucha, and Ugly's Grill and Bar on Duck Creek.
