The second Friday Night Lights youth football camp, hosted by members of the Jay High School football program, gets underway this weekend in Jay.
The camp is set for 7 to 9 p.m., Thursday and Friday, July 13 and 14, at the J.B. Earp Stadium, in Jay. The camp is designed for students between first and eighth grades.
"Last year we had a great turn out and I hope for it to be bigger and better this year," said Jay Football Coach Warren Kirk. "The camp will consist of football fundamentals with personal instruction from the the varsity coaching staff and players from the high school team."
A non-padded camp, campers are required to dress in shorts, t-shirts, socks and cleats. Water is provided, but campers are encouraged to bring a water jug. Concessions will be provided for snacks.
"The kids need to hydrate before coming," Kirk said. "That will help keep them from having problems with heat. I am looking forward to seeing everyone Thursday and Friday."
The camp costs $25 per person, and pre-registration is available through the start of the camp on Thursday, from 6 to 6:45 p.m.
Kirk said a sibling discount of $40 for two students, and $60 for three students, is available. The camp fee includes a t-shirt and goodie bag, as well as a meal after Friday's camp concludes.
