Oklahoma Team Genesis, Grand Lake's 16 & under softball team has brought home some bling.

The team competed in the Freedom Rings Tournament in Tulsa on July 1-2. Team Genesis played seven games in those two days and walked away with a 4-3 record.

Pool Play

Team Genesis struggled early in pool play, going 1-3. The team first lost 6-2 to Oklahoma Kaos, a team based in Broken Arrow and the eventual champions of the tournament.

In the second game, Team Genesis faced OKC's SWAT Lady Rebels. Team Genesis bested the Lady Rebels 9-1 to get the team's first win in the tournament.

The third game was another loss for Team Genesis, this time at the hands of the Heat, a team from Henryetta. The Heat bested Team Genesis 4-2.

Bracket Play

The first game in bracket play was a rematch against the Heat. It was another win for the Henryetta team, this time with a score of 13-2. The loss put Team Genesis on the losers side of the bracket.

Team Genesis would win the next game to avoid elimination. Team Genesis faced the Lady Rebels for a second time and won again, 1-0.

The win pitted Team Genesis against the Riverton Rage, a team from Kansas. Team Genesis would prevail again, winning the game 5-2.

In the semi-final game, Team Genesis played the Heat for a third time. Third time really was a charm as Team Genesis won the game 1-0 and knocked the Heat out of the tournament.

All that stood between Team Genesis and the title was Oklahoma Kaos.

The two teams prepared to play, however the game would be rained out. Kaos was awarded the title based on the team's tournament record, which left Team Genesis with the silver. Both team were awarded rings.

Team Genesis will play their final tournament on July 25-20 when the team competes in the 16 & under Mid-West National Championships, in Bentonville, Arkansas.
