Bringing home the rings has been a trend with baseball and softball this summer.
Grove's 11 & under team, the Ridgerunners, competed in USSSA's State Championship East on June 24-26. The Ridgerunners played in eight games, winning six and losing two.
The first game pitted Grove against the Replay Owls of Owasso. The Ridgerunners defeated the Owls 5-4.
In the second game, the Ridgerunners faced the Next Generation Giants from Tulsa. The Giants proved to be too much for Grove, and the Ridgerunners fell 7-0.
For the third game, Grove played the Sand Springs Astros. Grove bounced back from their previous loss and defeated the Astros 9-4.
In the next game the Ridgerunners faced the Ottawa Stars from nearby Miami. Grove bested the Stars with the biggest win of the tournament, 16-3.
The WBO Mission was the Ridgerunners next test. But the Tulsa team would fall 7-6 to Grove, who moved on in the bracket.
The sixth game paired Grove against the Next Generation Giants for a second time. This time the Ridgerunners would come out on top, 9-4.
In the seventh and semi-final game of the tournament the Ridgerunners played the Doggers from Dewey. Grove bested the Doggers 9-7 to move on to the championship game.
In the title game, Grove faced the OK Rebels from Ramona. The Ridgerunners fell 10-3, to take second.
