Members of the McGhee and Related Lines Genealogical Society will host an annual meeting and reunion during the weekend of July 7 and 8, in Grove.

The annual meeting will take place at 6:30 p.m., Friday, July 7, at the Best Western TimberRidge Motel in Grove. The event will include an election.

The historical family has lived in the area since the 1830s and the Trail of Tears. It includes surnames such as McGhee, Hanna, Beck, Fields, Harlan, Couch, Lusk, Prock, Currey, Dick, Prather, Cochran, Chandler, Nix, Boone, Dennis, Allen, Fowler, Perew, Evans, Freeman, Rogers, Jones, Oakley, Mitchell, Watson, Terry, Smart, Foust, Hampton, Preston, Ward, Ridenour, Cunningham, Buckmaster, Nidiffer, Taylor, Robertson, Martin, Williams, Ledbetter, Fowler, Jarnagan, Gann, Wallace and more.

The organization publishes two newsletters a year. To join, vote and receive the newsletter, there is a $5 annual fee. However, there is no cost to attend the meeting.

The annual reunion, and indoor picnic, will take place beginning at 10 a.m., Saturday, July 8, at the Grove Community Center, 104 West Third, Grove. Food will be served at approximately noon.

The reunion will include a poster contest - a science board or poster board size - with the theme "family and/or genealogy."

There will be two age divisions: 11 years and younger, and 12 to 16 years. Forms and parental permission slips for each entry must be picked up and filled out at the door or online with entry submissions.

A $25 gift card will be awarded to the winners.

The reunion will also include a silent auction and scavenger hunt.

The hunt, for children ages 5 to 12, will also require an entry form and parental permission slip. A $25 gift card will be awarded to the winners.
