“If you want to be safe on the 4th don’t buy a 5th on the 3rd” - Old Farmer’s Almanac

July 4th weekend on Grand Lake, have a great time and be careful. There’s so much to do.

Lake levels are consistent around 744 feet and temperatures are in the lower 80’s. The water color is generally good, but I have not been in Horse Creek or above the Elk River in several weeks. Fishing patterns are the same, typical summertime. When things change I’ll let you know in future reports.

During busy holiday weekends I take advantage of the other fisheries in NE Oklahoma. Lake Eucha, Hudson, and Spavinaw are great bodies of water with good fishing.

Black bass on Eucha were caught in and around the deeper weed beds on bigger worms and early in the day on minnow baits in the shallower pockets. On Lake Hudson try fishing the river past the Strang Bridge all the way to Pensacola.

Spavinaw is a sleeper for me. I like it because I can throw everything in my tackle box and test out different baits.

You don’t need a boat to have a good time fishing. The Ritter family was out catching a bunch of sunfish from the bank. Here’s Corbin and Casen with a basket full.

Until next time…keep your hook in the water
