GAMA Farmers' Market

The Grove Area Merchants Farmers' Market is open for the 2017 season.

The market, organized by GAMA members, takes place from 8 a.m. - noon every Wednesday and Saturday at the Grove Community Center, 104 W. Third, Grove.

This is a producer-only market. Everything is handmade or home-grown. Spots for vendors remain available. Local musicians interested in taking part in the market are encouraged to do so.

Grand Lake YMCA Ribs for Kids

Orders are now being taken for the Ribs for Kids initiative, to benefit the Grand Lake Family YMCA.

For $25 per rack, participants can order freshly smoked baby back ribs, ready to be warmed up and served.

The ribs will be smoked by Dick Seybolt and crew, may be ordered now through Monday, June 19. Ribs will be available for pick up from 4 to 7 p.m., Friday, June 30, and from 9 a.m. to Noon, Saturday, July 1, at the Grove Public School Administration Building on Broadway in Grove.

Funds raised will benefit scholarships for students and adults to participate in programs and membership at the Grand Lake YMCA.

Movies in the Park - Langley

Volunteers with the town of Langley will host a "Movies in the Park," a free family-friendly event, in the Village Park in Langley throughout the next three months.

The season will feature eight movies outside in the Village Park, in the south baseball field, at dark. The next show is set for Friday, June 9.

Participants are encouraged to bring lawn chairs and blankets an hour or so before the movie begins.

Remaining movies include:

• June 16 - Mary Poppins

• June 30 - Rogue One, a Star Wars Story

• July 14 - The BFG

• July 28 - The Blind Side

• Aug. 11 - A Dog's Purpose

• Aug. 25 - Pete's Dragon

If there is a chance of inclement weather, the movie will be shown the following week.

Business After Hours

Members of the Grove Area Chamber of Commerce will host the June Business After Hours from 5 to 6:30 p.m., Thursday, June 15, at Ozark Originals, 309 South Grand, Grove.

The event is open to chamber members and is designed to serve as a “meet and greet.” It will include food, beverages and door prizes.

Grove Rotary LobsterFest

The annual Grove Rotary LobsterFest will take place at 5:30 p.m., Friday, June 16, at the Grove Civic Center, 1702 South Main, Grove.

Tickets are $80 and must be purchased in advance. Only 575 tickets are available for the event, which includes a silent and live auction.

Bank of Grove is the presenting sponsor for this year's event. Proceeds from ticket sales benefit the annual Rotary Foundation grants.

Tickets are onsale now thru Saturday, June 10 for $80 for individuals and prefered tables with servers for 10 for $1,000. Tickets are available at groverotary.org and at area banks.

AARP Driver Safety Program

Local classes for the AARP Driver Safety Program will take place in March to December. The one-day course is six hours in length. Drivers will be able to obtain a discount from their insurance carriers for taking the course.

The classes are open to all interested drivers, including those who have taken it in the past. Upcoming class dates are Wednesdays, Aug. 30, Sept. 27, Oct. 4 and Nov. 29, and Saturdays, June 17 and Dec. 9.
