Outdoor Summer Movie Series

Volunteers with the City of Miami will host an Outdoor Summer Movie Series at Riverview Park and Miami Municipal Swimming Pool, on three dates this summer.

The first night, set for 7:30 p.m., Friday, May 19, will feature Trolls at the Miami Civic Center. The movie has been moved from Riverside Park due to the anticipated inclement weather. Admission for that show is $5 family.

The other movies, set for 7:30 p.m., Saturday, June 10, features The Sandlot, and 7:30 p.m., Friday, Aug. 4, features Moana. Both of those screenings will take place at the Miami Municipal Swimming Pool. For those shows admission is $5 for adults, $3 for kids and those 5 and under are free.

Food trucks will be available for each evening. Participants are encouraged to "pack up the kids, grab your baskets" and join the fun.

Oak Grove School Fish Fry

The annual fish fry, to benefit the Oak Grove School, will take place at 5 p.m., Saturday, May 20, at the school located at the intersection of South 560 Road and East 340 in the Dennis/Zena community.

Tickets are $6 per person and will be available at the door. The menu includes deep fried fish, pinto beans, coleslaw, cornbread, cookie and beverage. Members of the Dennis Friendship Club are helping to prepare the meal.

Proceeds benefit the upkeep and improvements to the Oak Grove School building/grounds and DFC community projects.

Civil War Days at Har-Ber Village

The Sixth Annual Civil War Days at Har-Ber Village Museum will take place from 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, May 20 and 21, at Har-Ber Village in Grove.

The event will include a mixture of Civil War history, a variety of re-enactors, and more.

Special guests include the Holmes Brigade Minstrels, re-enactor groups representing 22nd Arkansas, 77th Pennsylvania and 4th Missouri; the Burnt Press District sutler; and tin and coppersmith Robert Stone.

All activities are included with regular admission unless otherwise noted. Har-Ber Village Museum hours are 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.; closed Tuesday and Wednesday. Admission is $10 for adults; $7.50 for seniors 62+; $5 for children 6-13; under 6 and members free. Har-Ber Village is located at 4404 West 20th Street, Grove.
