Art - in multiple forms, including jewelry, paintings and of course, plants, were on display Saturday, May 6, during the annual Art in the Gardens at Lendonwood Gardens.

The event drew multiple artisans, as well as non profit organizations including the Grand Lake Audubon Society and the Grand Lake o' The Cherokees Quilt Guild.

This is one of the many events hosted at the botanical gardens, located at 1308 Har-Ber Road, in Grove.

Celebrating 20 years

In June, volunteers will host the annual fundraising gala, set for Saturday, June 3.

The event, "Flower Power: 20 Years and Growing," will features food, music and a silent auction, begins at 5:30 p.m., and will commemorate the garden's 20th birthday.

Gala tickets are available for $45 per person and may be purchased at or at Grove’s First National Bank and Crye-Leike Realty, both in Grove.

For an extra $50 per table, attendees may reserve a dining table for six to enhance the evening experience.

Deadline for reserving tickets to the gala is Tuesday, May 30. Tickets will not be sold at the gate. Rain date, in case of inclement weather, is June 4.

“We invite the entire community to join us in supporting this treasure in our own backyard,” said Roger Endo, president of the Lendonwood Board of Directors. “The gala is our only fundraiser to help make sure the garden continues as a highlight of the Grand Lake area.”

Lendonwood was designed by founder Dr. Leonard Miller, who donated the garden to a non-profit organization in 1997. The botanical garden is operated by a 19-member Board of Directors, many of whom volunteer hundreds of hours each year for its maintenance.

Lendonwood Gardens is a botanical garden supported by volunteers, memberships and contributions.

The garden is open to the public year-round, from dawn to dusk. Botanical highlights include major collections of azaleas, rhododendrons, daylilies, hostas, peonies, Japanese maples, dogwoods, and many other plants and trees.

Since opening, the garden has become a popular rental venue for outdoor weddings and other special events.
