It's successful! Second Chance Pet Rescue of Grand Lake's "Senior Pets for Seniors" adoption program has matched up several long-time shelter residents with seniors who were interested in an animal companion in their lives.

Our Senior Pets for Senior program allows any adopter 62 years or older to adopt a senior dog or cat from our shelter and the adoption fee will be waived. Yes, waived, because it is important for our senior pets to find that right home. Or if you haven't quite reached the requisite age, the adoption fee for our senior pets is reduced so that they may enjoy the benefits of a home and a family to love them.

Meet Suri - part of our Senior Pets for Seniors program. Suri has been living comfortably at the shelter for some time now and has patiently waited for her forever home. She may have a few gray whiskers, but she still has a twinkle in her eyes.

On many days, she is hanging out in the shelter's office area. She would be a great companion to a senior because she is low energy. Contact the shelter at 918-786-7630 or email hsgrove@att.net if interested in learning more about "Senior Pets for Seniors" adoption program.

Are you interested in "Woofing Away in Barkaritaville"? It's the newest fundraiser for Second Chance Pet Rescue. It's an outdoor Jimmy Buffet themed summer party to be held on Saturday, May 20, at Honey Creek Landing & Marina in Grove (next to Honey Creek Bridge).

The party features a "Cheeseburger in Paradise" dinner hosted by The Parrot Steakhouse and Grill, live music performed by The Exit 34 Band from Tulsa, and a fun and exciting charity auction. Casual tropical attire and flip flops are definitely encouraged.

Barkaritaville is going to be a fun night for everyone, and you won't want to miss this party. Buy your Barkaritaville tickets early as dinner seating capacity is limited. Tickets are $40 and are on sale now at Second Chance Thrift Shop (220 E. 3rd Street), The Parrot Restaurant, or purchase tickets online using your credit card at our secure website www.doitforthepets.com.

There will be "Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes" at Barkaritaville - all to benefit Second Chance Pet Rescue. For more information about Barkaritaville, you may contact 918-786-5750.
