Grove's boys track team placed sixteenth at Pitt State and fourth at Vinita, making for an exciting end of the season.
On Friday, April 14, the team traveled to Kansas to compete in the 28th Annual Jock's Nitch/Gorilla Relays and then went to Vinita on Tuesday, April 18.
The boys team placed sixteenth overall with a total of 19 points. Carthage topped the competition with a total of 93 points, followed by Owasso (75), Raymore-Peculiar (61), Reeds Spring (58), Webb City (53), Carl Junction (51), Willard (45), Lincoln Christian (39), Maize (38) and Lamar (35).
Brady Phillips took tenth in the 100 meter dash and fifth in the 400 meter dash. In the 4x400 Grove took tenth and fourteenth in the 4x800.
In the field events, Grove took first in the pole vault when Gaven Honeycutt cleared 14-0. Kai Sarwinski placed fifth with a height of 12-6.
Matt Amos placed eighth in the disc (141-6) and seventeenth in the shot (42-2). Mason Russ placed twelfth in the disc (136-7) and twenty-third in the shot (41-0).
Grove places fourth overall, scoring fifty-five points. Tulsa Central finished in first with 91 points, followed by Wagoner (72) and Oologah (55.5). Jay finished in fifth with 53 points.
Phillips took fourth in the 100 meter dash, second in the 200 meter dash and third in the 400 meter dash. Ryan McAbee placed fifth in the 3200 run and Grove placed sixth in the 4x800 relay.
Honeycutt won the pole vault, clearing a height of 14-3, followed by Sarwinski in third, who cleared 12-0.
Amos placed fourth in the shot put and third in the disc, throwing 45-4 and 132-15. Skyler Hernandez placed fourth in the disc, throwing a distance of 128.4. Russ finished in fifth in the disc with a distance of 126.1.
The team will be competing again on Friday, April 21, in Joplin.
