Local law enforcement and members of the Oklahoma Search and Rescue Council are searching for a Cleora teen, missing since sometime Friday, April 14.
According to Elizabeth Lee, director of the Oklahoma Search and Rescue Council, Synthea Angel Jones, 16, was last seen by her mother in the early morning hours of Friday, April 14.
Jones is described as an American Indian, with black hair, with some red dye coloring, and green eyes, weighing 130 pounds and 5-foot, 3-inches tall.
Cassie Jones told deputies with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office she believed her daughter left their home in the Red Arrow area of Delaware County, in the early morning hours on Friday.
Lee said family members believe Jones is traveling with Zak Barton, her boyfriend. It is believed Jones took a purple/black backpack with zebra striping, along with with clothing, her cell phone and some cash.
Barton is described as being 6-foot tall and weighing 150 pounds. It is believed the couple may be traveling in a late model white four-door Buick with dent/damage to the passenger side.
Lee said her organization believes Jones is an "endangered missing" juvenile because of her age, the fact she has been under a doctor's care, and because she is taking medication for health issues.
Lee said Jones' parents are concerned some statements she has made in the past may indicate she could become a danger to herself.
Lee said officials believe the couple may be traveling to the Kansas City / Lawrence, Kansas area, or to Florida, specifically Clear Lake, Florida.
OKSAR became involved in the search mid-day Monday, April 17. As of presstime, efforts to locate the couple have not been successful.
Chief Deputy Gayle Wells, with the Delaware County Sheriff's Office, said Jones has been entered into NCIC, and is listed as a runaway juvenile.
"Every action we have taken, is as if she was in immediate danger since the time of the initial report," Wells said.
Persons with information concerning Jones and Burton's location are asked to contact the Delaware County Sheriff's Office at 918-253-4531.
