Lieutenant Colonel Roland Thomas “Tom” Lambert, 83, died peacefully at home in Grove, on Thursday, March 16, 2017.
Tom was born on June 24, 1933, in Indianapolis, Indiana, to Roland L. Lambert and Amzel M. Lambert.
Tom graduated from Lawrence Central High School in Lawrence, Indiana in 1951. He attended the U.S. Air Force Officer Candidate School. He later graduated from Indiana University.
He served his country for over 24 years, during which time he flew in fighter jets, served as a flight instructor to other Air Force pilots, and held various commander positions.
Survivors include his wife, Maria Consuelo R. “Chonaj” Lambert of Grove; sons: Thomas C. Lambert of Oakland, California and Josef R. Lambert of Grove; daughters: Stephanie A. Lambert of Manila, Philippines and Maria Teresa Beatrice “Peaches” Lambert of Livermore, California; brother, William P. Lambert of Kokomo, Indiana; and sister Jacqueline L. Greene of Brentwood, Tennessee.
Tom is also survived by grandsons Christopher, Aaron, Ryan, Justin, John Paul “Popie”, and Franz; granddaughter Kacie, and great-grandchildren Jazmyn and Izaiah.
A memorial mass and service, with full military honors by the Tinker Air Force Base Honor Guard, will take place at 9 a.m., Friday, April 21, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, in Grove, with Father Alex Kennedy officiating.
