MIAMI – Officials at Northeastern Oklahoma A&M College (NEO) announced today that Lady Norse Basketball Player Maria Delgado was voted 2017 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Region II Player of the Year.

“Maria has made a tremendous impact to our team,” said Jim Rowland, head coach for the Lady Norse. “As a coach, Maria is the type of athlete you look for. She plays hard, has a good attitude, is a great student, and gives 100% all the time. She is very deserving of this honor and I am very proud of Maria as an athlete, a student, and an individual.”

Delgado is a 5’ 9” sophomore from Bucaramanga, Columbia and has helped the Lady Norse to a 58-7 record for the past two years. This year she shot an impressive thirty-eight percent from behind the arch and averaged sixteen points, four rebounds, and two assist per game. She is the daughter of the late Esperenza Delgado. After NEO, Maria plans on graduating and continuing her education and basketball career.
