Local area track teams competed in meets with Colcord and Kansas traveling to Chelsea Thursday, April 6 and Jay to Hilldale High School in Muskogee Friday April 7.
Jay sophomore Brittany Reece had big day winning gold medals in high jump, 800 meter run, 400 meter dash while getting third in the 1600 meter run. Reece had a jump of five feet, two inches, 61.23 in the 400, 2:25 in the 800 and
Jay also had good day in the field events besides Reece's gold in the high jump Tyler Battiest also grabbed his medal a silver for the Bulldogs teams in the boys high jump and a jump of 6-0. John Culver took gold the shot put (51-0) and fourth in discus (131-5) while Bailey Bishop was sixth in the girls discus with a throw of feet 102.5.
The 3200 meter relay team consisting of Jessie Hodge, Jaden Shotpouch, Daylon Simpson and Chase Brock finished in fourth place (10.41.43) while Brock won third place in both the 1600 and 3200 meter run. His time in the 1600 was 4:45.51 and 10:24.19.
The girls 3200 meter relay team of Abby Cornell, Jacklyn Duncan, Callie Callihan and Aryn Wilson finished in sixth place. They ran an 1:11.41time.
Colcord had two relay teams place at the meet in Chelsea. The Hornets 400 meter relay team consisting of Blake Gonzalez, Spencer Earp, Matthew Farris and River Craghead finished in second place and had a time of 45.96.The 800 meter relay was first with a time of 1:.90. The 800 meter relay team is made up of Earp, Farris, Craghead and Ryan Castleman. Castleman also finished second in the high jump and had a leap of 6-2. .
Jamal Potter placed in two events for Kansas at Chelsea. He ran an 18.0 flat third in the 110 meter hurdles and fifth in the 300 meter hurdles and 45.1.. Kalin Parsons was fifth in the 1600 meter run finishing in 5:23.
