Jay high school baseball team dropped a 12-3 game Wednesday, April 5 to Oologah in Class 4A, district five while the junior varsity Bulldogs beat the Hornets a homeschool from Arkansas 11-5 and Vinita 7-5 in the finals for the win. The junior varsity Bulldogs also grabbed a home win over Tahlequah 8-3 Thursday, April 6.

Trailing 2-0 in the bottom of the first inning Jay scored two runs to tie the game. The first score came when Weston Welch, courtesy running for Mason Weems, scored when Michael Hopson hit a ground ball and reached on an error. Brenden Ryan stole home plate to score the second run and tie the game.

Jay was trailing 9-2 in the bottom of the fourth when Hopson scored off a Steen Lane RBI single to finalize the scoring for the Bulldogs.

The Bulldogs finished with nine hits in the game led by Weems, Ryan and Lane with two each. Hopson, Kobe Budder and Jett Gibe also had hits.

Gabe Simpson pitched four innings struck out nine batters while giving up five hits, three runs and two walks. Weems also pitched in the game with 11 hits, two walks and two walks.

Bulldog JV 11 NWH 5

Jay scored three runs in the bottom of the first after Kazdion Mount scored on a Brody Winfield hit and error. Winfield and Kobe Sixkiller followed on an error by the Hornets on the following play.

Mount hit a sacrifice single in the bottom of the second inning to score Welch, Lane and Kaden Budder scored off a line drive single from Cole Oswalt to move to score to 6-0.

Tristan Dill scored on a passed ball in the bottom of the third and was followed by Welch on a Kaden Budder RBI single. Hunter Sapp gave Jay a 9-0 lead before the inning was over scoring on a Mount RBI double.

Jay added their final two runs in the bottom of the fourth inning when Budder hit an RBI single to score Andy Smith and Dill scored on a bases loaded walk.

Jay was led at the plate by Budder who went 3-3 while Mount and Oswalt also had hits in the game. Winfield pitched the game with six hits, five runs, four walks and three strike outs.

Bulldog JV 7 Vinita 5

The Bulldogs scored all seven runs in the top of the second inning. Dill put Jay on the board after stealing home plate and was followed by Gage Bishop who crossed home plate on a Lane line drive. Colin Sixkiller moved the score to 3-0 after stealing home while Lane scored on a Mount RBI triple. Mount followed on a passed ball by Vinita to put Jay up 5-0.

The final two runs came when Oswalt doubled to score Winfield and Bishop singled to bring Kobe Sixkiller home.

Vinita scored three runs in the bottom of the inning and one each in the fifth and seventh inning.

Mount, Bishop and Jacob Talley all had two hits in the game while Lane, Winfield and Oswalt all had one hit each in the game.

Oswalt started the game on the mound with three hits, five runs, four walks and six batters struck out. Mount pitched one inning with no hits, no runs, one walk and three strikeouts in the game.

Bulldog JV 8 Tahlequah 3

Jay took a 1-0 advantage in the bottom of the first when Lane scored off a Mount single. Sapp and Mount scored when Oswalt hit a ground ball and reached on a Tahlequah error for a 3-0 lead.

Following two Tahlequah runs Colin Sixkiller came home on a Kaden Budder ground ball. They scored a third run in the bottom of the fourth inning when Kaden Budder crossed home plate on an error by the Tigers.

The Bulldogs finished their scoring in the bottom of the sixth inning after Bishop singled to score Colin Sixkiller and Bishop and Kaden Budder scored on a passed ball.

Lane, Mount, Bishop, Kobe Sixkiller and Colin Sixkiller all had hits for the Bulldogs while Kobe Sixkiller pitched six innings with seven hits, two runs, three walks and five strikeouts. Bishop pitched one inning with one hit, one run, one walk and three strikeouts.
