PRAGUE - Local powerlifting teams traveled to Prague on Friday and Saturday, March 3 and 4, for the OFBCA Powerlifting State Meet.

When the iron had all been pumped Kansas came out on top as the Class 2A State Champs while Jay was the Class 3A State Runner-ups. Lifters from Colcord and Oaks also placed for their teams.

The Comets had the two top lifters in the small school competition with Daris Glass the outstanding lifter in squat and light weight lifter. Jarren Yeager was the top heavy weight lifter as well as tops on the bench press.

Glass competed at 145 pounds and lifted 1130 pounds total and 450 in the squat competition. Yeager had a total of 1385 pounds lifted and 335 on the bench in the 198 pound weight class.

Yeng Lee placed sixth for Kansas at 220 with 1230 pounds lifted while Zack Lamont was also sixth at 242 and lifted 1290 pounds total.

Jay was led by two state runner-ups in Keng Vang and Zach Carroll. Vang who won his second state runner-up title to go along with a state title in 2016. Vang, competing at 157, lost to Austin Lazano from Guymon by five pounds. Lazano finished with 1100 pounds lifted while Vang finished with 1095. Carroll competed at 198 pounds and lifted 1265 pounds. Chandler Newton of Elgin was first with 1450 pounds.

Weaver Fisher and Kuck Sloan both place at 168 pounds. Fisher lifted 1145 pounds for fifth place while Sloan 1125 for sixth place. Jaden Shotpouch also helped Jay accumulate points with an eighth place finish at 132.

Colcord had two lifters that place with Blake Gonzales placing fifth at 145 and Keng Lee at 123. Gonzales lifted a total of 955 and Lee 690.

Oaks Nacoma Roman Nose placed sixth at 157 with 635 pounds lifted.
