Students from the Northeastern Oklahoma A&M campus in Grove recently took part in a Campus Clean-up Day.
Students removed loose trash and took care of landscaping. NEO Instructor Dr. Lesli Deichman led the event in order to maintain a clean and welcoming facility.
“The students had a wonderful afternoon, picking up trash around the campus and weeding the garden beds,” said Deichman. “They picked up over 20 bags of trash out of the woods and yard surrounding the campus and even managed to drag an old cow feeder out of the woods for disposal."
Along with ensuring the Center was free of trash, NEO students had a chance to build camaraderie while giving back to the community.
“I wanted students to feel some ownership of the Center,” Deichman said. “The Grove Center stands for so much to these students: scholarship, friendship, hard work, and more, but it is also place where NEO can really connect with the Grove community.
"With the amount of talent our students have, we plan to continue these Clean-up Days and expand them to include Grove Center beautification.”
The NEO branch in Grove offers courses each semester to meet general education requirements. Courses are taught by full-time and adjunct faculty in the classrooms at the Center, as well as by interactive video from the Miami campus. Various degree program courses are also offered at the Grove center.
