Grove's season opener was on the road in Gravette.

The Ridgerunners won by a decided margin, 8-1.

Neither team was able to score in the first, but in the top of the second, Grove's Chase Kreutz was the first batter up. Kretuz would round the bases, thanks to singles from Chat Hayes, Dillan Miller and John Downs. Toby Cearley would hit another single, pushing Hayes across home. The top of the second ended 2-0, Grove.

Miller scored in the top of the fourth, extending Grove's lead to 3-0.

In the top of the fifth, Davy Jackson and Braxton Pennington both scored, Kreutz scored his second run and Miller scored his second run. Grove's lead expanded to 7-0.

Gravette one and only score would come in the bottom of the sixth.

But the Ridgerunners would answer with a double from Hayes. Hayes' courtesy runner, Jonas Chaney, would score two batters later, making the final score 8-1.

Kreutz, Hayes and Pennington all pitches two innings, while Cearley pitched one. Hayes and Pennington both earned four Ks, while Kreutz earned one.

Grove had a total of thirteen hits on the ball, both Hayes and Miller had three hits each.

The Ridgerunners were to play Fairland on Tuesday, March 7, but the game was cancelled.

Next up for Grove is the Wagoner Bulldogs. Wagoner is 2-1 so far this season, with wins against Okmulgee (12-4) and Inola (11-3). The Bulldogs' loss comes from the Miami Wardogs (1-19).

Grove will play at 5 p.m. in Wagoner on Thursday, March 9, and the Ridgerunners will host the Bulldogs at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 10, in Grove.
