Kansas came in as the top seed in the tournament and didn't disappoint anyone, beating Jay JV 80-16, Seneca 61-37 and Jay 63-25.

Kansas girls ran out early an early lead and held on for a 63-25 win the Tri State Classic Basketball Tournament girls championship Saturday, Jan. 21.

The Lady Comets led 19-3 after the first quarter and led 39-12 at halftime. Kansas continued to control the game in the second half with a 24-13 scoring advantage. Kansas was led in scoring by Aydin Jones and Teri Leaf with 14 points each. Torey Snell finished with eight, Emma Kirk and Lainie Payton seven, Tailee Reding and Brianna Holland four with

Lyndzie Davis and Lindsey Thompson two each.

Kansas 61 Seneca 37

Kansas Lady Comets jumped out to a 12-0 first quarter lead and held on for a 61-37 win over Seneca, Missouri in the semifinals of the girls bracket at the Tri-State Classic Basketball Tournament. The Lady Comets scored the first 12 points of the game and led 16-3 at the end of the first quarter.

They continued to pull away in the second and when Teri Leaf hit a basket with :20 left in the second, Kansas led 35-8 at halftime. Both teams scored 12 in the third quarter for a 47-20 score going into the fourth quarter.

Emma Kirk led Kansas with 18 points while Teri Leaf finished with 15. Kaylee Armbrister added eight points in the game, Aydin Jones seven, Torey Snell six, Lyndzie Davis four, Tailee Reding two and Lindsey Thompson one.

Kansas 80 Jay JV 16

Kansas put five players in double figures as they beat Jay JV 80-16. Aydin Jones led the team with 16 points, Teri Leaf 15, Kaylee Armbrister 11 while Torey Snell and Tailee Reding had 10 each.

Emma Kirk added seven points, Lynzie Davis four with Lainie Payton and Lindsey Thompson scoring three each.
