Growing up, everyone wants a best friend that is there throughout their childhood, helping you make memories and following you into adulthood.
Two Colcord seniors have had that relationship not only throughout their childhood years but since birth. Michaela and Meegan Ellis are the twin daughters of the Mike Missy Ellis and they realize that they have a unique blessing in their lives.
"It's like being born with a best friend," said Michaela. "We are so much alike that we pretty much always know what the other one is thinking and we do everything together."
Meegan said the trip with her sister has been fun regardless of what has happened along the way.
"It's had it's ups and downs but it was like I was born with a best friend so for the most part it's fun," Meegan said.
The two sisters have done about everything together, as they play the same sports and enjoy the same things, but that doesn't mean they are all the same.
"We like to play the same sports, we have the same sense of humor, and pretty much everything we do is alike, but we do have some ways we are different like what we want to do after high school," Michaela said.
For Meegan, its the small things that are different between them.
"We both play sports and neither of us are all that serious," Meegan said. "People say we look alike but I don't see it. We have a lot of mutual friends. We have the same type of music. We like the same kind of movies.
"I am typically more girly than she is. I am way cooler. I love seafood and she won't try it at all."
After doing so many things together, graduation will take them in different directions.
Meegan plans on going to NWACC nursing college in Fayetteville to become an RN while Michaela wants to go into sports medicine or be a physical therapist.
"I've been wanting to be a nurse for awhile and I want to help people as much as possible and I feel like that's a great way to do it," Michaela said.
Although their paths will diverge, the two sisters still plan on going into similar fields
"I want to major in either sports medicine or I want to be a physical therapist," Meegan said.
One event has inspired Michaela to do well in life.
"My uncle Travis who passed away in 2012 has been my inspiration in everything I do," Michaela said. "I want to make him proud."
Meegan also has an inner inspiration that drives her.
"I know I can be whatever I want to be," Meegan said. "I know as long as I'm a strong Christian I will be in Heaven and it will all be worth is some day."
Both of them feel they have been blessed growing up in Colcord.
"The best thing about going to Colcord Schools my whole life is that it's so small. Everyone knows everyone. And for the most part everyone gets along," Michaela said.
Meegan said the friendships are what have made her time in Colcord enjoyable.
"The best thing about growing up in Colcord is the friendships I have made," Meegan said. "Colcord is a very welcoming school, and they really do care about the well being of the students," added Meegan.
The granddaughters Larry and Louise Ellis, Rich and Linda Tilton attend Colcord Church of Christ and are involved in FCA and FCCLA as well as sports. Outside of school, they they are in Leadership Training for Christ.
