CHOUTEAU - Colcord high school basketball team traveled to Chouteau Thursday-Saturday, Jan. 19-21 for the Chouteau Festival.
The Lady Hornets hung a 101 points on Dove Science Academy out of Tulsa in a 101-11 victory. The Colcord girls played Salina where they fell 73-53 and Chouteau where they lost as well, 67-48.
Colcord also hosted Fairland at home Tuesday, Jan. 17 with the girls winning 50-31 and the boys losing 57-38.
The Colcord boys beat Dove Science Academy 76-38 while falling to Salina 61-40 and top-ten ranked Chouteau 72-53.
Lady Hornets 101 Dove Science Academy 11
Colcord led 29-0 after the first quarter and 51-4 at halftime. Colcord continued their dominance with a 25-2 lead going into the fourth quarter.
Colcord had four players in double figures with Shania Bennett leading the Lady Hornets with 15 points followed by Summer Tuell 14, Jennifer Martin with 11 and Shawnee Nichols 10. Bailey Phillips, Ashley Wolfe, Kim Blair and Michaela Ellis all scoring eight, Meegan Ellis six, Ashlyn Davis five, Kailee Fowler two and Skyla Drywater one.
Salina 73 Lady Hornets 53
Salina took a 19-16 lead after the first quarter and led 41-25 at halftime. The Lady Wildcats continued to win the scoring battle in the third for a 60-36 advantage going into the fourth quarter.
Drywater was the leading scorer for the girls with 15 points, Michaela Ellis and Nichols ninei, Tuell eight, Kailee Fowler three while Wolfe, Martin and Meegan Ellis added two each.
Chouteau 67 Lady Hornets 48
Michaela Ellis and Drywater both scored in double figures to lead Colcord in scoring. Ellis scored 14 and Drywater 10. Martin scored six in the game while Phillips and Kailee Fowler had four each.
Chouteau led 19-11 after the first quarter and 34-15 at halftime.
Lady Hornets 50 Fairland 31
Colcord put three players in double figures with Nichols scoring 17, Drywater 13 and Michaela Ellis 12. Bailee Fowler scored eight, Martin four, Tuell and Meegan Ellis three each.
Colcord, behind eight points from Martin in the quarter, took a 15-10 advantage after the first quarter and led 29-17 at halftime. Colcord also won the scoring battle in the second half, 31-14.
Chouteau 72 Hornets 53
The eighth-ranked Wildcats wasted little time taking an early lead. Chouteau led 21-12 after the first quarter and 46-25 at halftime.
The two teams tied with 14 points each in the third before Colcord had the scoring advantage in the fourth 14-12. Spencer Earp led the team with 13 points, Matthew Farris had 11 and Ryan Castleman 10.
Legend Doyle chipped in eight, Chad Kendrick six and Connor Burroughs five.
Salina 64 Hornets 40
Salina led 12-9 after the first quarter and 30-21 at halftime. The Wildcats continued to win the scoring outscoring the Hornets 20-4 in the fourth.
Farris led with 11 points, Burroughs added eight, Castleman and Doyle six, Earp five and Kendrick four.
Fairland 57 Hornets 38
Colcord dropped a home game to Fairland prior to playing in the Chouteau Festival. Fairland doubled up the Hornets in the first quarter 14-7 and led 28-12 at halftime. Colcord came back and won the scoring battle in the third 17-15. Farris scored 11 points, Burroughs and Kendrick eight, Earp six, Doyle three and Castleman two points.
