Jay and Grove met for the first time on the basketball court Tuesday, Jan. 3 at Bulldog Arena. The Jay boys took a 55-53 win over the Ridgerunners while the Lady Bulldogs fell 48-26.

The Bulldogs had three players in doubled figures with Garrett Sweeney scoring 15 points, Stormy Taylor 12 and Gabe Simpson 11. Jay led 11-10 after first quarter and 23-17 at half time. Grove came back and took a 19-17 in the third and 17-15 in the fourth.

Kobe Budder added seven points for Jay while John Culver had six and Tyler Battiest four. Miller had 22 points for Grove while Phillips also finished in double figures with 12.

Jay scored half of their points in the game in the first quarter with a 13-10 advantage over Grove. Grove reversed that in the second quarter outscoring Jay 9-4 for a 19-17 half time lead.

Grove pulled away in the third 18-3 and continued the momentum in the fourth 11-6.

Haley Dry led Jay with nine points followed by Kyla Rogers with eight, Alexa Duncan four, Mya Pickup three while Callie Callihan and Caitlin Taylor had one point each. Macee Barnes and Kelsey Gorham led Grove in double figures with 15 and 11 points respectively.
