Her arrival came a bit early for her parents, but right on time to become the first baby born at INTEGRIS Grove Hospital in 2017.
McKenzie Faith Christenson arrived at 7:25 a.m., Tuesday, Jan. 3, 2017, weighing 6 pounds, 9 ounces and measuring 18-1/2 inches long.
The daughter of Jessica Bratton and Marvin Christenson III of Grove, McKenzie Faith was one of two babies born on Jan. 3.
As the first baby born in 2017, McKenzie Faith received a bouquet of flowers from the Rusty Willow and a quilt made by members of the Grand Lake o' the Cherokees Quilt Guild.
For Bratton, McKenzie Faith's arrival came five days before her due date of Jan. 8.
"I'm just happy she's healthy and a good baby," Bratton said, as she gazed at her newest daughter. "I was shocked that she was the first because it was January 3."
McKenzie Faith, the first child for Bratton and Christenson, joins three big sisters, Gracie, Hailey and Lilly Bratton. With her January arrival, she and her siblings will celebrate birthdays in August, November, December and January.
While her siblings were born in Vinita, McKenzie Faith becomes the first to arrive at INTEGRIS Grove Hospital with the help of Dr. Robert Thomas.
Bratton said her daughters weren't sure they were ready to have a younger sister, but after meeting her on Tuesday things changed.
"Lilly thinks she's a doll to play with," Bratton said with a smile. "They've all taken turns holding her."
It appears McKenzie Faith appears to take after her mother, when compared to a picture of a young Bratton.
Bratton said the couple decided to name their daughter McKenzie Faith, because McKenzie was a name they both could agree on. Faith was added at the suggestion of one of her sisters.
"I just want her to be healthy and happy," Bratton said of her wish for her newest child.
Bratton moved to Delaware county in the sixth grade. A 2005 graduate of Jay High School, she jokes that McKenzie Faith will eventually follow in her siblings' footsteps and become a Grove Ridgerunner.
Bratton works as a CNA at Ozark Community Hospital in Gravette, Arkansas. Christenson works for Simmons Foods Inc. in Southwest City, Missouri.
