klahoma A&M College on Monday, January 12, 2009, will reinstate the aquatic classes at the college.  Next semester, NEO will once again offer water aerobics and the arthritis aquatic program.  The aqua-tots program, which teaches children to swim, is estimated to begin in February. 

The pool was destroyed by the July 2007 flood and had been under renovation until November.  Completion of the project equipped the pool with a new liner, perimeter, pump, ventilation system and pumps.

Three sections of the NEO water aerobics program will begin on Tuesday, Jan. 13.  A section of the course will be offered on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 12 p.m. until 1 p.m.; a second will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 4 p.m. to 5 p.m.; and a third will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 6 p.m. to 7 p.m.

The NEO arthritis aquatic program will start on Monday, Jan. 19, lead by Carol Calcagno, retired physical education instructor, and Adrian Arnold, health and physical education instructor.

Two sessions of the class are available.  Calcagno’s session will meet on Mondays and Wednesdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. starting Jan. 19.  Arnold’s session will meet on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2 p.m. to 3 p.m. beginning Jan. 20.  The sessions are currently scheduled for four weeks but with sufficient enrollment will be offered longer.  The cost is $30.

Those who do not wish to participate in the arthritis aquatic program may participate in a separate arthritis exercise program held in the O-Club Room of the Gymnasium beginning Jan. 19.  Lead by Arnold, this class will meet Mondays and Wednesdays from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m.  The cost is $20.  The arthritis programs are sponsored by the NEO Continuing Education Office and the Arthritis Foundation of Oklahoma Eastern Chapter.
